Venture Crew 1 Homepage

Venture Crew 1 was chartered in Birmingham, Alabama, in May of 1999 as a member of the Greater Alabama Council of the Boy Scouts of America. It was started with the help of Paul Byrne, Brooks Lumpkin, Wilson Nash, Matt Byrne, Jeff Pace (council executive), and Scott. Lee Payne also helped us in several areas. Venture Crew 1 was corporately sponsored by Alabama Outdoors Inc., an outdoor oriented store located in Birmingham. We are the first and only venture crew in the nation to be chartered with a corporate sponsorship. However, due to scheeduling conflicts, we have a new sponsor. Our new sponsor is Urban Outpost, owned and operated by Hank (i can't remember his last name). We are currently operating as a "High Adventure" crew. We decided to stay away from specializing our crew so we would be able to do more interesting things in many different areas. The crew chief is Paul Byrne and the assistant crew chief is Brooks Lumpkin. The adult advisors are Matt Byrne and Warren Nash. We are gearing up to get into full swing now that the sponsorship problems and organizational problems are taken care of.
